11-17-06 Cuts to from the most impoverished and neediest of Americans

Well, the Neo-cons attempted to pass a bill that would have cut 142.5 billion dollars from the Federal Budget… while proclaiming that we have to get the deficit under control. Which at first sounds good, right??? However, that’s just their spin…

What the Neo-cons didn’t’ tell you is… they wanted to cut the 142.5 billion from Medicare, Medicaid, student loans, after school programs, labor, Health, and Human Services programs; basically… take money from the most impoverished and neediest of Americans. While at the same time, maintaining the tax cuts for the richest 2% of Americans.

Furthermore, the very next bill the Neo-cons want to push thru would give the largest corporations in the US 170 billion dollars in TAX BREAKS!

This, if you should do the math, would have amounted to a net increase of nearly 30 billion dollars to the deficit! But, all the Dems and quite of few Republicans (most of whom are up for re-election next year) voted it down.
